Kert Gunasekaran serves as the program director for the Science of Patient Input (SPI) at MDIC.

Gunasekaran’s work at MDIC focuses on elevating the scientific rigor of patient input in the medical device industry. He oversees the SPI program, which brings together industry stakeholders, the FDA, and patient-centered nonprofits to develop innovative approaches for integrating patient preferences into clinical trials and product development. Under his leadership, the SPI program has developed frameworks and methodologies to help medical device companies systematically incorporate patient input throughout the total product lifecycle. This includes a patient-centered framework for clinical trial design that aims to better align studies with patients’ needs and priorities.
