MDIC and Deloitte Collaborate to Support and Connect MedTech R&D Leaders
New Initiative to Foster Innovation and Best Practices in Product Development Across the MedTech Sector
ARLINGTON, Va., November 18, 2024— Today, the Medical Device Innovation Consortium (MDIC) and Deloitte announce a new initiative to bring together product development leaders in MedTech, building upon Deloitte’s previous work in benchmarking innovation and product development in the MedTech sector.
Research and Development (R&D) professionals are critical innovators in advancing the medical technology ecosystem forward. R&D leaders leverage a significant skill set to move new concepts through all the rigors and challenges of the development process–supporting best practice sharing and elevating processes is a key component of bringing life-altering technologies to patients.
The R&D Leaders Circle, hosted by MDIC and Deloitte, will bring together leaders across R&D and Program Management. By embracing the unique perspectives of Program Management—often seen as distinct from R&D—this community will foster valuable collaboration and shared insights, advancing innovation and best practices in MedTech product development.
In addition, the R&D Leaders Circle will help to shape the Deloitte MedTech New Product Development Benchmarking Survey. This study has uncovered key findings including that of “companies with the highest revenue contribution from new products, the average invests 6% more of their R&D budget in upfront understanding/research compared to the average.” This study has become a trusted resource for R&D leaders to provide independent benchmarks in various areas of product development, supporting the case for increasing smart investment and strategic innovation.
The inaugural gathering of the R&D Leaders Circle is set for February 2025. To learn more or receive an invite, please visit the R&D Leaders Circle page or click the button below.
