Chip Hance Appointed as Chair of MDIC Board

Leading MDIC with a Vision for Expanded Industry Engagement and Innovation

ARLINGTON, Va.Chip Hance assumed the position of Chair of the Board of Directors of the Medical Device Innovation Consortium (MDIC) at the organization’s most recent Board meeting. Hance, a longtime leader in the medical device field, reflected on the opportunities ahead for MDIC as he took over Board leadership from the outgoing chair, Dr. Jijo James, Chief Medical Officer, MedTech and External Innovation at Johnson and Johnson.

“I am humbled by the opportunity to serve as Chair of the MDIC Board of Directors,” said Hance. “I have been involved with MDIC since its inception and look forward to driving even greater impact of MDIC’s essential work in accelerating medical device innovation and patient access. My priorities as Board Chair include expanding our membership base, especially among small and mid-sized manufacturers, and expanding adoption of MDIC’s programs in the medical technology ecosystem.”

Hance currently serves as CEO, of Regatta Medical, a private equity investment partnership with GTCR. Regatta builds specialty technology companies with unique relevance to the medical device industry. A 35-year industry veteran of cardiovascular, diabetes and diagnostics devices, Hance has long served as the primary MDIC champion of the Early Feasibility Studies program. Previously Hance has served as CEO of Creganna Medical, Entrepreneur-in-Residence at CDRH, and President of Abbott Vascular, the cardiovascular device division of Abbott.
