Attribute Library
Explore the Attribute Library
The Attribute Library helps researchers design better health preference studies by offering a searchable collection of published attributes and a standardized taxonomy for describing them. Use this resource to identify, adapt, and compare attributes that reflect what matters most to patients.
Introducing the Attribute Library for Health Preference Studies
The Attribute Library is a resource developed by MDIC to support faster, more consistent design of patient preference studies. It includes:
-
A taxonomy for clearly describing study attributes
-
A searchable database of attributes from published studies
These tools help researchers reuse and adapt proven attributes, improving study quality and comparability while keeping patient priorities at the center.

Attribute Library FAQs
The Attribute Library is a centralized database designed to improve the accessibility, comparability, and harmonization of patient preference research. It allows users to search, compare, and analyze attributes from past studies, helping to streamline the design of future studies and promote consistency across the medical device field. By standardizing how patient preferences are captured and shared, the Library aims to elevate patient-centricity in clinical trials and product development.
The Attribute Library is intended for a wide range of stakeholders involved in patient preference research and medical device development, including:
- Patient preference researchers
- Industry clinical trial developers
- Regulators (e.g., FDA) These users can leverage the Library to build upon existing research, improve study quality, and enhance patient involvement in the product lifecycle.
The Attribute Library is not yet publicly available. To learn more about the project or request access when it becomes available, please contact the MDIC team directly (Jonah Golder, jgolder@mdic.org). The Library is currently in development, with plans for a public release in 2026.
