It is important for patients to feel empowered to make healthcare decisions, understand the benefits and risks associated with medical procedures, and feel comfortable about receiving healthcare, especially during the COVID-19 pandemic (also known as Coronavirus).

After realizing that much of the current guidance was focused on helping healthcare professionals safely return to healthcare facilities, this discussion tool was developed by patients, patient advocates, and medical and scientific experts to help patients ask relevant questions regarding their care during the pandemic.

MDIC brought together multiple stakeholders on this project, but most importantly, patients had an active voice in the development of the tool. The Patient Discussion Tool is available on the Patient Resources During COVID-19 Page on the MDIC website which also provides multiple resources for patients to turn to for up to date information on the pandemic.
