MDIC’s Patient Discussion Tool Kit

As a patient, it is important for you to feel empowered to make healthcare decisions, understand the benefits and risks associated with medical procedures and feel comfortable about receiving healthcare, especially during the COVID-19 pandemic (also known as Coronavirus). The Patient Discussion Tool Kit was developed as a guide by patients, patient advocates and scientific experts to help you ask relevant questions regarding your care during the pandemic.

The first patient discussion tool: Discussion guide for patients considering a medical procedure during COVID-19 was developed to serve as a guide when speaking to your doctor or other health care providers about considering a medical procedure during the COVID-19 pandemic. The questions provided should not replace the informed consent process with your healthcare provider but should help you ask questions specifically related to COVID-19.

The second patient discussion tool: Considering Postponing Care during COVID-19 was developed to help patients better understand any potential impacts of delaying care. If you are not comfortable receiving care because of the COVID-19 virus, it is important to discuss with your healthcare provider how you can stay safe until you are ready to receive in-person care.

These discussion tools were designed to help you communicate with your healthcare provider and co-collaborate on your care!

Each discussion tool comes in multiple formats for your convenience. Download your Discussion Tool below:
